In his address marking Eid al-Fitr, President Mohamed Muizzu expressed hope for empowerment, dignity, and prestige for Muslims worldwide, while acknowledging the challenges faced by the global Islamic community.
He noted that as Muslims celebrate Eid, many, particularly in Palestine and across the Middle East, continue to endure hardship and suffering. Emphasizing unity, he said that believers share one another’s pain and called for peace and safety for those affected as soon as possible.
The President also emphasized the importance of continuing acts of worship beyond Ramadan, citing the Six Fasts of Shawwal as a reminder to remain steadfast in faith and good deeds.
Reflecting on the lessons of Ramadan, he described it as a period of spiritual training that encourages patience, kindness, and discipline in both words and actions. He urged Muslims to remain united as one community, rather than divided.
He further stressed that Eid celebrations should align with Islamic principles, encouraging people to observe proper values and boundaries while celebrating.
President Muizzu concluded by reminding that the true joy of Eid lies in fulfilling religious obligations, engaging in prayer, reciting the Quran, and supporting those in need. He said Eid is ultimately about gratitude to Allah, kindness towards others, and fostering peace, faith, and harmony within society.
