President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has established the Maldives National Anti-Doping Agency under the authority granted by Article 116(a) of the Constitution.
The agency was formed in accordance with Section 38(a) of the Maldives Sports Act, which provides for the creation of a national body to oversee anti-doping measures. The decision was formally communicated today through a Presidential Directive.
According to the directive, the Maldives National Anti-Doping Agency will be governed by an independent board responsible for implementing and enforcing anti-doping regulations within the country’s sporting sector.
The establishment of the agency follows the ratification of the First Amendment to the Maldives Sports Act on 19 May 2025. The move aims to strengthen integrity, transparency, and fairness in sports, while ensuring compliance with international anti-doping standards.
The agency is expected to play a key role in protecting athletes’ rights, promoting clean competition, and preventing the use of prohibited substances and methods in sports.
Under the directive, the number 1138 has been assigned for official correspondence with the Maldives National Anti-Doping Agency.
