A chemical facility in southern Israel has been struck by a missile launched from Iran, causing significant damage and prompting the evacuation of surrounding areas, according to international media reports.

The attack targeted an industrial site near Beersheba, located within the Ramat Hovav industrial zone in the Negev region. The facility reportedly belongs to ADAMA, specifically its Makhteshim plant.

ADAMA, which is partly owned by Syngenta Group, confirmed that an investigation is underway to assess the extent of the damage. The company said it could not yet determine whether the strike was caused directly by an Iranian missile or debris from one.

Reports indicate that a fire broke out at the site following the impact, raising concerns over potential chemical hazards. However, no casualties have been confirmed so far, and authorities have not released detailed information on the scale of the damage.

The Ramat Hovav industrial complex houses several chemical plants, heightening fears of toxic leaks. Local media, including Israel’s Channel 14, reported concerns that hazardous substances could have been released as a result of the strike.

Authorities quickly sealed off the affected area and evacuated nearby zones as a precaution. The Israel Broadcasting Authority confirmed that emergency teams are working to assess risks, particularly the possibility of chemical exposure.

Officials are continuing to monitor the situation closely, while investigations remain ongoing to determine the full impact of the attack and any potential environmental or public health risks.
