The Visit Maldives Corporation has invited industry stakeholders to express interest in participating in a series of international travel trade fairs scheduled for the remaining months of 2026 across several strategic markets.

The initiative comes as authorities closely monitor the evolving situation in the Middle East, a region that has traditionally served as an important source market for Maldivian tourism. VMC stated that it is taking “proactive steps” to minimise any potential impact on the sector.

In a statement, the organisation reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the tourism industry while supporting partners in adapting to changing global market conditions.

As part of its strategy, VMC is increasing its engagement in alternative and emerging markets to enhance destination visibility and diversify visitor sources.

The expanded trade fair calendar includes major events across countries such as Azerbaijan, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, China, Thailand, Indonesia, India, Bangladesh, Turkey, Italy, Mexico, and Uzbekistan.

Among the highlighted events are ITB China in Shanghai, ILTM Asia and ITB Asia in Singapore, as well as ITB India in Mumbai. These events are considered among the most prominent gatherings in the global travel and tourism industry.

VMC noted that participation in these fairs will provide valuable opportunities for tourism stakeholders to connect with international partners, promote the Maldives as a leading destination, and strengthen long-term business relationships.

Tourism remains the backbone of the Maldivian economy, and officials emphasise that maintaining a strong global presence is essential to ensuring sustained growth and resilience in an increasingly competitive and uncertain global environment.
