Condor Airlines has announced the resumption of direct flights from Frankfurt to the Maldives for the upcoming summer season.

Outlined in the airline’s 2026 long-haul schedule, the decision reflects a strategic effort to capture growing travel demand from one of the Maldives’ most significant tourism markets. Operations are set to commence on 1 May and will run through 31 October, with four weekly flights scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

The service will connect Frankfurt Airport (FRA) directly with Velana International Airport (MLE), significantly enhancing accessibility for European travelers. A spokesperson for Condor stated that the decision to reinstate the route followed extensive discussions with German travel agents and tour operators, which highlighted strong demand for the Maldives as a premier holiday destination.

Germany consistently ranks among the top source markets for the Maldives, and this direct connection is expected to further bolster tourist arrivals from the region. The resumption is seen as a major boost for the Maldivian tourism sector, with resorts and guesthouses expected to benefit from a steady influx of visitors during the European summer holidays.

Furthermore, Frankfurt’s role as a major aviation hub will provide convenient connections for travelers across the continent, making travel to the Maldives more seamless. This expansion of direct air connectivity from Europe arrives at a critical time, offering a stable alternative for travelers amid ongoing regional disruptions.
