An Iranian missile strike targeted an oil refinery in Haifa, causing limited damage, according to Israeli authorities.
Officials said the attack briefly disrupted electricity in the northern region, though power was restored to most affected areas within a short time. Eli Cohen stated that the impact on infrastructure was minor and localized, with no major damage reported.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed responsibility, saying it had targeted refinery facilities in both Haifa and Ashdod, along with additional security and military-related sites. However, there has been no immediate confirmation regarding damage in Ashdod.
Israeli authorities reported that debris from intercepted missiles landed near the refinery in Haifa, prompting a hazardous materials response. A power line in the area was also affected by shrapnel, leading to a temporary outage.
Emergency services confirmed that falling debris caused a fire at the refinery site, briefly disrupting operations. The situation was quickly brought under control, with no casualties reported. Environmental monitoring teams later confirmed that air quality remained normal and there was no risk to the public.
This incident follows a previous strike on the same refinery last year, which resulted in fatalities and halted operations.
