Aminath Susan has stepped down from her role as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO).

Susan announced her resignation today in a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating that she felt the need to take a break and focus on her personal projects.

Appointed CEO on January 27 last year, Susan expressed gratitude to MATATO for the support and cooperation extended during her tenure. She also highlighted the guidance and assistance of MATATO President, Abdullah Giyas.

Reflecting on her career, Susan previously served as the Managing Director of Hotels and Resort Construction Company and spent seven years at HSBC Maldives. She is the first female Executive Board Member of the Maldives National Association of Construction Industry (MNACI) and currently serves on the Executive Board of the National Federation of Maldivian Employers (NFME).

Following her resignation, MATATO issued a statement acknowledging her contributions and commending her leadership. The association noted that under Susan’s direction, MATATO achieved significant progress and strengthened its role within the Maldivian tourism industry, building a strong foundation for the future.

Established in 2006, MATATO plays a key role in promoting Maldivian tourism globally.
