A pickup truck overturned in a dangerous accident on the highway linked to the Sinamale’ Bridge connecting Malé and Hulhumalé on Friday.
According to Maldives Police Service, the accident occurred when one of the vehicle’s tires suddenly burst, causing the driver to lose control and crash into the road dividers. The pickup also collided with a nearby car, though police confirmed that the car sustained only minor damage.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the accident, including the driver of the pickup. However, the vehicle itself suffered extensive damage, and the road dividers it struck were also left damaged.
Police said work is ongoing to clear the pickup from the site, while an investigation into the incident is underway.
Authorities have repeatedly warned of the high number of road accidents in the Malé area, many of which have resulted in severe injuries and even fatalities.
