A nine-year-old girl was seriously injured in a road accident in Hulhumalé Phase II on Saturday evening.
The accident occurred near Vinares 7 flats, where police responded following reports of the crash.
The injured child was taken to Hulhumalé Hospital for treatment.
Videos circulating on social media appear to show a taxi stopped in the motorcycle lane, with a motorcycle lying on the road in front of it. Blood can also be seen on the road, while the injured child is shown with a bleeding head as bystanders call for assistance.
Police have not yet disclosed details regarding how the accident occurred or whether anyone else was injured.
Authorities said further information will be released as it becomes available.
The incident remains under investigation.
