The Maldives Civil Aviation Authority has awarded a D-1 rating to Manta Air’s maintenance organisation, recognising the airline’s significant progress in its operational and technical capabilities.
With this certification, Manta Air is now authorised to provide Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) services, making it one of the few airlines in the Maldives to offer such an advanced technical service. The D-1 rating officially designates Manta Air’s NDT workshop as a specialised service provider, enabling the airline to conduct NDT inspections not only for its own fleet but also for other airlines and aviation agencies operating in the country.
Commenting on the achievement, Manta Air Deputy Chief Executive Officer Ahmed Maumoon said the certification marks an important milestone in the airline’s growth. He said that as the fastest-growing domestic and seaplane operator in the Maldives, Manta Air is continuously working to enhance its world-class engineering facilities and technical expertise.
He added that the airline aims to further strengthen service standards, expand its technical services, and build a robust engineering system that reflects Manta Air’s vision and national pride.
Manta Air’s Head of Engineering, Pablo Alves, said the introduction of in-house NDT capabilities will significantly improve operational efficiency. He noted that it will help reduce costs, speed up critical inspections, and minimise aircraft downtime.
According to Manta Air, the D-1 rating is expected to reduce reliance on third-party service providers, lower maintenance expenses, and improve turnaround times, while also enhancing overall safety standards within the aviation sector.
The airline said this development represents a major step towards strengthening the country’s aviation infrastructure and supporting the long-term growth of the industry.
